2023 passed in a blur and as we end the year, we wanted to pause to say thank you to our advisors, patrons, advertisers, and partners, who made this our most successful year since launching as a newsletter in 2018.
Special thanks to the Ambassadors and Embassies of Austria, Canada, Ecuador, the European Union, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Philippines, Rwanda, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, and others who opened their doors or provided guidance as Diplomatica grows.
Additional thanks to Urga Azat for her generous contributions; Nan Langen Steketee who sponsored our profile of the annual Tulip Days event at the Dutch Ambassador's residence; Andrew Donaldson who provided insight into the history of the Pentagon; Diplomatica's financial advisor Gene Meyer; Ryan Meilak for his unwavering support; Victor Shiblie for co-publishing our building renovations piece; Reed and Marlene McCluskey who provided office space, and last but not least, Tony Culley-Foster, for his many, many advice sessions in the corner booth at the National Press Club.
We'll be returning next year with new features, new products, new ways to engage, and a great story about an embassy that filed a complaint with Secret Service. If you're enjoying Diplomatica and want to support original reporting on embassies and other diplomatic properties, and the roles that they play in their host cities, please consider making a year-end gift or sponsoring an issue or profile in the coming year.
Get in touch for more information.
Until then, we leave you with our special year-end features, including holiday traditions from around the world, the EU Holiday Cookbook, an update on the sustainability initiatives at the Swiss embassy, and introducing Things We Love, which profiles a very special ceramic with an interesting history from Austria.
If you'll be partaking in the Icelandic tradition of Jólabókaflóðið this holiday season, or giving books to others, please consider making your purchases through theDiplomatica Library at Bookshop.org, which will support both Diplomatica, and your local independent bookstore.
Happy holidays from our homes to yours.
