EU Ambassadors’ Book Club
In honor of America's 250th anniversary celebrations, Ambassador Jovita Neliupšienė presented the EU Ambassadors' Book Collection to the Library of Congress, on behalf of the 27 member countries of the European Union.
“I have always believed that books are one of the most meaningful forms of diplomacy,” said Jovita Neliupšienė, European Union Ambassador to the United States. “Long before we meet one another, we encounter each other through stories — through the characters, histories, humor, and values that shape our societies. This collection invites American readers to discover Europe not through headlines or politics, but through literature. It is both a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and a tribute to the enduring friendship between Europeans and Americans.”

Global Diplomacy in September
September ushers in the fall and the return of a packed global calendar. UNGA and Climate Week are fast approaching and like many of you, our team will be in New York (Is there something that should be on our schedule? Please get in touch.)
It’s also one of the busiest months of the year for national days, with countries around the world coming together to celebrate their national identity and heritage. In a new monthly feature, we’ve compiled a list of national days from around the world—a resource for recognizing and celebrating the countries and cultures that make up our global community.

The Latin American Film Festival returns to AFI September 16 through October 7 with films from the Embassies of Argentina, Chile, Portugal, Uruguay, Spain, Peru, Mexico and more. All films $15. Passes available.
Saturday, September 12 - 7 PM Art all Night at the Embassy of Guatemala. Experience the live painting of artist Jonathan Ardón in an evening filled with Guatemalan culture, contemporary art, and music at the Embassy. Free RSVP required.
Tuesday, September 15 - 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM Creating Characters: A Hands-On Comic Session at the Spanish Cultural Center. Join Spanish comic artists Don Julio and Fran Mariscal as they present Portraits: Twelve Lives, Twelve Journeys. Free RSVP required.
